Anger Managment

Let me just say this, Adam Sandler is a guilty pleasure of mine. I like Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore , The Waterboy and Little Nicky. I think he's funny and the same bunch of guys that he has in the movies with him are funny, too. Now let me say this, I thought Anger Managment was funny, but not as funny as it could have been. A very predictable plot and with an even more predictable romance element tainted what could have been "classic Sandler" if there is even such a thing. Jack Nicholson is also funny as the psychiatrist, but his character has shades of his far superior role in As Good as It Gets. A fun movie, especially the parts about the girlfriend and her ex-boyfriend/best friend and how they interact with the current boyfriend. Very funny and guys will find said segments very true.

A Mighty Wind

I liked this movie, but not as much as I thought I would. I ususally have pretty high expectations from the Spinal Tap boys, and nine out of ten times, they come through in fine style. A Mighty Wind used very subtle humor ( a staple in most of the Christopher Guest movies, like Best in Show and Waiting for Guffman). What completly overshadowed the humor in this film was the fact that many if not all of the actors wrote their own songs and played their own instruments. Very impressive, I wish they would have put even half of the creative energy from the music into the comedy.

Confessions of a Dangerous Mind

This movie was wonderful for many reasons, one of them being the spectacularness that is Sam Rockwell's ass. You get to see a lot of it in this movie, and I swear, he is the white, male, J-Lo. This movie is great, from the superbly acted role of Chuck Barris, done by Rockwell, to an excellent supporting cast, this movie was really overlooked by the Oscars last year. Based on Barris's autobiography, this movie chronicals the life of a game show producer/host/CIA operative (supposedly). If you aren't familiar with Barris's work on shows like "The Dating Game", "The Newlywed Game" and "The Gong Show", this movie will give you a pretty good idea. Definately check this one out.

Edit: I just noticed that Rockwell's first movie was Clownhouse, where the director (Victor Salva) apparently molested the head child actor in that film. I was planning on watching that film today. Creepy...

Identity

What a great movie!! Identity really knocked my socks off, and I'm wondering why I waited to see this on DVD and didn't go to the theater. While a bit confusing plot wise (but in a good way), this movie really kept me guessing until about the last 30 minutes. John Cusack was great, Amanda Peet was great (never thought I would say that) and so was Clea Du Vall (who I'm really looking forward to seeing in Carnivale). At first, some of the holes in the plot seem really gaping, but they all make sense in the end. That is the catch phrase of this movie, "It'll all make sense in the end..". To some who didn't like this movie, yes, it can get annoying. Just see it, trust me, you'll like it.

Tape

Picture this, two assholes in a room, one is high, one is preachy. Enter third asshole to add to the assholeness. Unnecessary, stupid and psuedo-intellectual, this movie is useless. Don't waste the hour and 45 minutes...
